About White Circle

We're filmmakers to the core and back in 2005 we moved into a little office in sunny Bournemouth with the hope of being enthused by a growing creative community… but that's not to say a beach didn’t influence that decision as well.

Shortly after, a steady flow of knocks on the door came from local businesses looking to tell their stories and showcase their brands to the world. We couldn't resist! So we formed White Circle Productions, a company dedicated to telling those stories in a cool, professional and engaging way.

Since then, we're still the filmmakers we always were but we've just grown a little… and moved closer to the beach. Now, with our 12-strong team of dedicated production and post-production professionals, we think we're more equipped than ever before to tell your stories. Just check out some of the content we've produced for brands such as Mizuno, JP Morgan, Kraft, The Ritz, The RNLI and Wyke Farms.

Give us a ring on 01202 297009 and let’s get the ball rolling… or the camera… sorry :-)

Services

Whilst we often work with brands directly, we also fully understand the agency/client relationship and subsequently pride ourselves on producing cutting edge content with total peace of mind for all involved. We appreciate that moving image content quite often plays a small role in a much larger campaign and at a time when you need all the supplier support you can get, our team goes to great lengths to ensure your creative is adhered to and delivered with minimal fuss.

We love the moving image and can create anything from live action to bespoke style animation. As creative innovators, with roots in television and feature-film production, we endeavour to apply our experience, contacts and passion to everything we produce whether its viral video, corporate doc or promo film.

Check out our sister company White Lantern Film for references to our work for Broadcast and Film.

Facilities

We're a full service commercial production company in the heart of Bournemouth, with our own wholesome post-production facilities on site including:

  • » 3 x Final Cut Pro Editing Suites
  • » Soundtrack Pro mixing suite
  • » Dedicated Screening facility

The majority of post-production jobs can be completed internally by our experienced team of editors, digital designers, visual effects supervisors and animators. We also welcome our clients to sit in with their editor throughout the project assembly process.

Alongside our post-production facilities, is our in-house production management and administration team, vastly knowledgeable in all things production-related like location management, casting, contracting, licensing and all other things less visually exciting but equally important.

But more important than all that, we've got a fantastic kitchen so why not pop along for a cuppa and check it all out!

  • Adam J Merrifield
    Founder & Senior Producer

With a strong independent film and theatre background I created White Circle with Dan to bring our experience of producing creative content to businesses and brands. I am a passionate producer and enjoy telling stories which capture our imagination and inspire audiences. I love exploring new techniques and enjoy working with talented individuals to explore content creation and new technologies.

Fave Film: There’s a lot out there, finding one is hard so I default to Alien, Elephant, Transamerica and a little Australian film called Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Fave TV: I’m a big fan of US comedy and drama, currently watching The Big C, House and 30 Rock alongside BBC and C4 documentaries from True Stories to Horizon.
Fave promo/viral: Two adverts stand out, BA “To Fly. To Serve” and at Christmas the John Lewis commercial “Gifts” great stories which reinforce two great British brands.

  • Dan Pringle
    Founder & Creative Director

I started off working as a script development officer with BBC writer Jonathan Harvey on various comedy series before moving on to set up White Circle in 2008 alongside developing independent feature film. I'm a lover of classic style and solid storytelling and these two principles are normally found at the core of everything we produce for our clients.

Fave Film: Dead Man’s Shoes, Considine delivers the greatest leading performance in modern day cinema…no understatement.
Fave TV: The office, just pure genius and the defining programme of a generation.
Fave Promo/viral: Probably our viral for Mizuno with FC Porto's Hulk…I share his anticipation in my non-league changing room!

  • Elaine Davey
    Office Manager

Prior to joining the team at White Circle I was an Events Manager and Music Promoter. I am lucky enough to have organised events and gigs working with musicians from Pink Floyd, Wings, Oasis and the Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck Bands. Joining White Circle was a really exciting opportunity for me, being in such a creative environment with such talented people is an amazing experience and makes everyday different.

Fave Film: Monty Python Holy Grail is brilliant, Dirty Dancing a girlie fav, Spinal Tap of course and anything with Johnny Depp in it, I think he’s great.
Fave TV: I liked Extras, Ricky Gervais is brilliant and I am partial to a bit of Diagnosis Murder or Murder She Wrote!
Fave promo/viral: I like the Meerkat ads, they are just fab, really clever advertising. I have been known to compare the odd meerkat or two on-line myself.

  • Will Shutt
    Production Manager

I was lucky enough to have numerous opportunities working and taking part in various film and media based community projects as I was growing up and haven't looked back. Recently graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Production I have become a regular fixture at all things White. My passion lies in creating content that leaves a lasting impression whether it's an artistic or entertainment endeavour.

Fave Film: From a producers/production stance it has to be the little Irish Film 'Once' that went beyond everyone's expectations.
Fave TV: "I'm Garth Marenghi. Author. Dreamweaver. Visionary. Plus actor. You're about to enter the world of my imagination. You are entering my Darkplace." - If you know this then we will get along.
Fave promo/viral: Not so much a viral but surely James Bonds entry with the Queen for LDN 2012 Olympics was marketing gold.

  • Matt Hill
    Senior Editor

Practically growing up in the back stages of the once family-owned Westbridge studios, film has always been in my blood. As I grew up, I found filmmaking quickly became my passion and I went on to graduate from the very respected film school at the Bournemouth Arts Institute. Since then, I worked as a freelance editor in London before joining the team at White Circle. Fascinated by the relentlessly evolving nature of the film industry in the digital age, I go into every project with the same wide-eyed enthusiasm that I had when I first started.

Fave Film: Iñárritu's innovative 21 Grams.
Fave TV: I'm a huge fan of english comedy and black humour, I think Peepshow has to be my favourite show at the moment. Outside comedy, it has to be Mad Men.
Fave promo/viral: Arrivals (MasterCard) is one of my favourites. The concept is minimalist but its very memorable, finding something we can all relate too and understand on a emotional basis. Great advertising.

  • Alex Simmonds
    Motion Graphic Artist

I started at White Circle fresh from graduating from the internationally renowned Arts University College Bournemouth. I enjoy developing my skills in post-production techniques, focusing largely on motion graphics and animation. Outside of work I like magic, sugary snacks and a band called the Wonder Years.

    Fave Film: Finding Nemo.
Fave TV: Firefly should have never been cancelled.
Fave promo/viral: Terry Tate Office Linebacker.

  • Laura Johnson
    Junior Editor

I come from Puddletown (don’t worry, no one else has heard of it either). After making promotional videos for bands and festivals whilst at school I developed an interest in animation and experimental uses of film. Six years later White Circle took me on as part of their post-production team, hopefully they’ll have me for a bit longer yet.

Fave Film: A Beautiful Mind for the stunning storytelling; Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who for its delicious silliness.
Fave TV: Miranda. Fantastically written. Such a simple concept that leaves me grinning like a loon to myself for days.
Fave Promo/viral: The banking one with the big waterslide around the city. I’d like to swap commutes, please.

  • Anna Ciszek
    Post-Production Intern

I have always had a strong passion for Art and Design. I would spend hours after school editing and creating personal projects. This has led me to study a 3D Animation & Modelling course at Bournemouth University and eventually gave an opportunity to join the team of enthusiastic and creative people at White Circle. Being able to work on various projects has helped me develop my skills and gain the crucial knowledge of film making industry.

Fave Film: Avatar - purely because of an amazing CGI and new techniques created during the filming which changed the view on modern 3D cinematography. Plus I really like futuristic concepts.
Fave TV: The Big Bang Theory - I could be their good friend in real life :)
Fave Promo/viral: Skoda Fabia Cake Car - I wish I could buy one of those.
